and it was BAD! We are so very thankful to have this nasty virus behind us. I'll try to spare sharing too many details, yet document here for memory sake.
Ivy had recovered from her 2nd cold and then woke up on Sunday morning, Nov. 21st with a low grade fever. We didn't think much of it, but did stayed home from church and laid low at home for the day. Sunday later afternoon I noticed a little bit of a sore throat. Hudson was complaining of his ears hurting so Monday morning I took him to the walk in clinic. Found out he had a double ear infection, but no other symptoms of Covid so the doctor didn't think it was necessary to have him tested. We hosted overnight guests Monday evening. Tuesday morning I woke up with a low grade temperature and that was the turning point. Tuesday around 11:30am Roy, Hudson and I got Covid tested. Roy's test and mine came back positive, but Hudson's was negative. We went back on Wednesday to get the girls tested and theirs were positive too. So we were stuck home for Thanksgiving and prayed that our Covid journey would include mild symptoms and a quick recovery. But that is not exactly how it went for us.
An immunity smoothie for Miss Ivy.
We did so much laying around, I had very little energy.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Roy managed to find the energy to bake us a pumpkin pie...so his Thanksgiving tradition continues.
Hudson and Greta made apple turkeys too, even amidst having Covid.
Ivy insisted on wearing her swimming suit (or no clothes at all) for a majority of our quarantine. She also got spoiled with having her paci and watching way too much tv.
Friends ordered us Chick-fil-a and had it delivered to our front step via Door Dash.
Eating Thanksgiving leftovers (or trying to at least). Our appetites were not much.
We watched SO MANY movies. Greta said at one point "it's actually kind of fun to have Covid because we get to watch lots of movies."
Friends brought us meals, picked up groceries and dropped off Covid supplies.
The weather was fabulous and we got outside every single afternoon for our daily dose of fresh air.
Hudson had fun with the leaves
and the kids made a "leaf cannon."
We tried to soak up some Vitamin D from that sunshine.
Proof of more movie watching.
Taking care of a busy toddler while not feeling well yourself was a challenge. Roy took a brunt of the load with her.
Hudson was the only one who felt normal (and tested negative twice) so we put him to work. He was (mostly) willing to help.
Sick snuggles with my baby
Jimmy Johns for dinner would have been better if we would have been able to taste it.
The evenings were hard for Roy. After we would go outside and have dinner his fever would rise.
Ivy was the first to show symptoms, but she was also the first one to be feeling better and have her energy back.
Roy struggled with Covid the most. He developed a pesky cough pretty early on. He had a vasovagal (he collapsed because of a blood pressure low) and ended up in the ER where he was pumped with fluids and then sent home. After getting a monoclonal antibody infusion he turned the road towards recovery.
Both girls got ear infections (first time on antibiotics for both of them). Greta had a low grade fever for 8/9 days, she had nose bleeds, a cough and runny nose. Greta has been a super healthy kid and she has never really experienced much sickness, besides a seasonal cold. Covid hit her hard.
A look at our kitchen counter...so many vitamins, supplements and medicines. It gives me anxiety just looking back at this picture.
So many friends brought food over. I am so very thankful for the love and support of community.
We drank so many of these immunity shots and they were disgusting.
Starting to feel a little bit better!
Covid was hard. I have never experienced sickness like it before. It was rough but God really showed up. Other people loved us well, supported us, prayed for us, delivered items to our doorstep, got our groceries and checked up on us. So thankful for our God who heals and sees us through all of our days.
