New Adventures

Last weekend we went to Babies R Us to buy Hudson something new.
A year ago I told myself I would never buy one of these things, but I proved myself wrong.  :)
We picked out this new "farm jump a roo" for Hudson and he has been enjoying it so far.

A few of his other new adventures include...
1.  rolling over in his crib and screaming for help to be turned back over
2.  going to his first "Babies and Books" session at the Waukee Public Library
3.  going to his first play group and meeting some new kids
4.  going to daddy's work and being introduced to lots of new people

5.  going on a stroller ride sitting up like a big boy

Here is something that is NOT NEW at all...Hudson sucking on his hands!

Hudson's Hats

Today we got a few tubs of "new" clothes from our dear friend Emily.  Her little guy Grayson has outgrown them and is sharing them with Mr. Hudson.  Thank you!  Upon opening one of the tubs I discovered lots of hats, which will be perfect for summer.  So we decided to have a little fun with all the new hats and we took lots of pictures.  :)  Hudson has certainly figured out that when the camera is out you look at it and smile (sometimes).  Enjoy the "hat show"...

This hat wasn't in the tub, but it is one of daddy's so we though it would be fun to try it on too!

#1 Daddy

Yesterday, in honor of Father's Day, we went out for lunch at one of Roy's favorite restaurants...Chipolte.  We also enjoyed dinner at Roy's parents house where Hudson met a few new family members (yet I didn't get any pictures...oops).  Roy is an amazing Dad and I am so thankful for his love, support, and patience.  He is the BEST!  We love you!

Sioux Center Baseball

We went home (to Sioux Center) for a few days this week to watch some of my brother Ryan's baseball games.  He is the varsity coach for the Sioux Center Warriors.  This was Hudson's first sporting event and he didn't miss a minute of the action.  We were hoping he would snooze during the evening games, but he wanted to take in all the sights and sounds of the ballpark.  In 3 days we attended 3 baseball games.  It was fun to watch Ryan in action, enjoy the summer weather, and cheer on the team.

Hudson loves to touch faces.  Here he is playing with Grandpa Rog's face.  :)

Honey Creek Resort - Lake Rathbun

Roy and I decided it would be fun to take a "mini vacation" with our family of 3 to celebrate the beginning of summer and the close of another school year.  So we headed to Lake Rathbun and spent the night at Honey Creek Resort.  This was our first night away from home with Hudson, besides going to G&G's house in Sioux Center.  The resort was great and the weather was perfect!  Yet, we realized first hand how traveling and being away from home is so much different now with a baby!  Hudson slept great last night which was a huge celebration!  He had his first experience swimming and seemed to enjoy it (he didn't say much, mostly just looked around and listened to all the sounds around him).  Roy and I enjoyed walks by the water, dinner and breakfast out, naps, and reading.  It was a good time to relax.  Traveling home today was challenging, as Hudson demanded out of his car seat, yet we insisted that was not a safe option.  :)  Here are a few pics from our time.

Isn't this hat the cutest?!

What a beach bum!

4 Months

We got Hudson's picture taken this weekend for his 4 month "birthday."  His Lil' Swinger onesie fits him now so we needed to take a picture in it.  At four months Hudson...
...sleeps 10 1/2 hours consistently at night
...sucks on his hands constantly
...is getting so close to rolling over
...has found his toes
...is a happy baby and smiles a lot
...is becoming more observant of his surroundings and loves looking around
...has lost his newborn hair and is growing his 2nd "crop" of hair
...is always moving his hands and legs when he is awake
...likes to sit up and look around
...likes the music on his PraiseBaby cd's at nap time
...likes to look at books and listen to the words
...weights 17 pounds and is 27 inches long
...scoots around on his back when in his crib and playing on the floor
...is playing more and more on his tummy

The Last Day Of School

Yesterday marked the last day of school for the Waukee Schools, but also for me.  It was both an exciting and sad day at the same time and was quite the mixture of emotions.  Now I am busy packing up my classroom, going through my stuff, and finding new homes for my collection of teaching supplies.  After Monday I will be officially "done" as a 2nd grade teacher at Brookview.  My 5 years there have been amazing and I will forever be grateful for the experiences I have gained and the relationships I have built.  I know I will miss many things about the classroom, yet I know my time at home with Hudson is what is best for our family at this time and is what my heart desires.  As I begin this next chapter of life I move forward and am thankful for my time at Brookview.  It is through these years that I have been shaped and molded into a better person and is what has helped to equip me to be a better mother.  Farewell Brookview!

We posed for a family picture in the morning, each of us wearing our "Friday work shirts."

A few class pictures at the end of the day.

My 2nd grade team...
Becky, I will miss your treats at lunch and your analytical thinking which has stretched me and my thinking as a professional
Kirstie, I will miss you helping out from across the hall and your listening ears when I had something I just had to share
Megan, I will miss the way you make us laugh and your constant willingness to share your stuff
Ashley, I will miss chatting with you in the morning and sharing in life's journeys together

I love you all!  Thanks for your friendship and support!  :)  Emily

Hudson Pics

Grandma Sue was here caring for Hudson today (on her birthday) and she did a "photo shoot" of her favorite grandson.  The pictures were too cute and I had to share them with someone!  :)
