Grandma Time

I went back to work on May 7 (just for 20 days of school) so Hudson has been spending his days with his Grandmas.  First Grandma Sue came for 2 weeks and now Grammy B is caring for him the last 2 weeks.  He has given them lots of smiles, is napping pretty well, and is happy to take a bottle (at least this is what they tell me).  :)  I got him this shirt to wear so his Grandmas would know just how much he loves them and is thankful for their love and care when Mommy is not around.  I am pretty sure the Grandmas have enjoyed their time getting to know their precious grandson, caring for him, spoiling him, and loving on him.
Thank You Grandmas!  We Love You!

H is for Hudson

Hudson posed for a few pictures in his Hudson onesie today.  No matter how hard we tried to get him to smile all we got was this serious face.  :)  Aunt Angela gave this sweet onesie to Hudson when he was born and we needed to take a few pictures in it before it got too small.  How many babies have a shirt with their name on it?  Thanks Aunt Angela!  We love you!

Drake Graduation

We had the privilege of celebrating with our Malaysian friends, Erza and Firdaus, at their graduation from Drake University this morning.  They both graduated with degrees in Actuarial Science.  We have gotten to know them, and have made several memories together, over the past 2 years through the Drake International Friendship Program.  Hudson did great during the graduation itself, through the help of his fluffy friend hippo.  Afterwards we took the opportunity to take pictures together and give them a graduation gift, fleece tag blankets I made.  Congratulations Erza and Firdaus!  We are proud of you!

Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day, what a JOY!  I was so blessed to spend the day with my 2 favorite boys...Roy and Hudson.  I felt so loved!  What a treasure it is to be a mother!  My heart has grown SO much in just the three short months that I have been one.  Wishing my mom, grandma, and mother-in-law a Happy Mother's Day!  Thanks for how you have supported and encouraged me on this journey of motherhood.  I LOVE YOU!  :) Emily

Roy made a delicious Mother's Day breakfast, quiche and muffins, for us to enjoy
while Hudson was taking his morning nap.  It was delicious!

Hudson woke up from his nap saying "Happy Mother's Day!"

We spent a few hours of our afternoon at the Des Moines Botanical Center.
It was beautiful both inside and outside and was a great way to enjoy the spring day!
How many pictures could we possibly take with Hudson?  :)  He just has to be in every picture.

Grandma Sue, Grandpa Ed, Lynn, and GG Ells came over for dessert in the afternoon.
We took this opportunity to take a four generation picture.

Grandma Sue and Hudson were dressed alike!
They are spending lots of time together these days and are becoming good buddies.

3 Months Old On May 3

Hudson turned 3 months old yesterday!  It is so hard to believe.
He is growing like crazy and is really a big boy.
He is so much fun.  We adore our precious son Hudson John!

Some of Hudson's happenings include...
..."talking" and making lots of sounds
...laughing and smiling at about anyone who laughs and smiles at him
...sucking his hands (constantly)
...finding his tongue and making bubbles
...kicking and moving his arms like crazy when he plays on the floor
...holding his head up
...putting weight on his legs and bouncing
...breaking out of his swaddle to suck on his hands
...getting into more of a consistent eat - play - sleep routine and taking better naps
...wearing size 2 diapers and 3-6 month clothes
...getting "out" more often to do errands with Mommy
