We held Hudson's parties in the evening, even though it was a breakfast theme, simply because it worked better for people and there were conflicts in the morning. Breakfast for dinner, why not?! The table decorations were pretty simple, old Aunt Jemima syrup bottles, boxes of pancake mix, and some vintage breakfast/cooking gadgets.
Hudson cut out the polka dot and number 8 confetti one afternoon during his quiet time. We have fun doing the party preparations together.
Hudson had a list of 15 kids he wanted to invite. We narrowed it down to 10 guests because 12 kids is what we can fit around our table.
Each child got a menu to fill out. They circled the number of pancakes, sausages, and bacon slices they wanted. They also circled Y (for Yes) or N (for No) if they wanted scrambled eggs, milk and orange juice. When their order was finalized they chose an order number and I wrote it at the top of their order. The kids loved it because it felt like a real restaurant.
Each child selected their preferred spot at the table and put their order number there.
Roy was the master chef. While the kids were busy playing games at the various stations, he was busy in the kitchen making all the food. He had two griddles going and made 5 batches of pancakes, along with bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs.
Our neighbor Abby came over and helped Roy in the kitchen.
When we were finished playing games and came down to the kitchen he had the island full with all the completed orders, a delicious and impressive accomplishment. So thankful for a hubby who is good in the kitchen!
The polka dot plates were my favorite and came from Hobby Lobby.
Order #11...
After the orders were all distributed to the hungry kids, we went around with the toppings, which included strawberries, bananas and blueberries.

And sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter and pecans. We also had Ready Whip and syrup.
The hungry birthday boy, ready for some pancakes.
My favorite memory from the entire birthday celebrations can be captured in this photo. These kids were so excited about the food. They thoroughly enjoyed the "all you can eat pancake feast" and all the fun toppings that came with it. Everyone was all smiles, which etched a sweet memory on my heart.
Proof that pancakes create smiles...
