We Love Pampers!

It is official...PAMPERS are our favorite diapers!

We have tried lots of different brands (thanks to the friends and family members who helped to "stock us up" before Hudson's arrival) but now the stash is running out so its time to purchase them ourselves.

Hudson posing by his big boxes of diapers (we are restocking our shelves for the months to come).  I'm pretty sure he doesn't really care what brand of diapers he wears.

Our little miracle sporting his Pampers!

Plus...check out their sweet commercial!

Today we are heading out to Minnesota for a week of vacation with the Bomgaars family!
I am sure there will be LOTS of pictures and memories to share with you from our time after that.  Sending hugs from Roy, Emily, and Hudson!

swimming on sunday

What is better than going swimming with friends on a Sunday afternoon?  Its both fun and relaxing!  Hudson enjoyed looking around and listening to all the new sights and sounds of the swimming pool and then started to really enjoy the water after awhile.  He also liked playing with Evie and Izzy.  Thanks girls for a fun afternoon!

Hudson, Izzy, and Evie.

He wasn't so sure what to think about the big kids splashing him.

Izzy loved the slide and Evie was pretty comfortable with the water.

our "lil' swinger"

Two times this week Hudson got a ride on a "big boy swing."  Seems appropriate since he is our "lil' swinger."  Both times (at play group and also at the park) he fell asleep after just a few pushes.  I guess it helps that it was almost nap time, but I was shocked!  We may have to get a swing in our backyard soon.  :)

Hudson's first time in a swing at Drake's house.

Hudson's first time to the park.  Roy's first time pushing his son.
The swing was much too big so we took a blanket as "filler."  :)

Hudson says..."This swing is soooo relaxing.  May we come back tomorrow?"

Hudson got his 3rd ride of the week in a swing at Lilly's birthday party this afternoon.
He didn't fall asleep this time and didn't mind at all that it was pink.

Madison & Joey's Wedding - 7.9.11

My cousin Madison got married to Joey Hofmeyer on 7.9.11.  I have been waiting awhile to post some of my pictures until she had a chance to post a few of her own on her website.  BTW...her blog is amazingly wonderful (www.espressoandcream.com).  The day was beautiful and delightful in every way.  Here are a few pics from the memorable event.
Congratulations Madison and Joey!  We are excited for you guys!

Grandma Dorothy and Ryan enjoying the outdoor "gathering time."

They had outdoor lawn games for the guests to play.

The happy couple (and their cute dog Nutmeg) posing for a picture.

The Swinger family in the guest photo booth.

We sat at Table #2.  The centerpieces were fun and refreshing.
I of course wanted to capture all the fun details so I could remember them.  :)

The table is set!

Beckett taking a bit (or 2) out of his yummy green apple.

The pie table!  Not only did it look cute but the pie tasted sweet too!

The food was amazing (of course)!  I took waay too much, but wanted to try it all.

They departed in a pedicab.  I made the sign and cans to decorate it.
I enjoy any chance I get to create something.

Instead of bubbles, balloons, or birdseed, they had these fun ribbons to send them "off."

Roy and Hudson joining in the ribbon fun.

Farewell Mr. and Mrs. Hofmeyer!

My aunt Marilyn is an amazing event coordinator and did a fantastic job putting all the details of the day together.  It was fun to come alongside her and partner up on a few projects.

Hudson and his cousin Beckett checking each other out.

Encouragement For Mothers

Roy enjoys the work of John Piper (author and pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis) and reads his blog daily.  He is passionate about God being glorified among the nations.  Check out his blog yourself if you are interested.  Desiring God Blog

During the past month he has passed along to me two wonderful articles he has read on John Piper's blog, encouraging me as a mother.  Since they are so inspiring, I thought I would pass them along to other mothers out there who may be reading our blog.

Hudson Rolled For The Camera!

Hudson has been perfecting his rolling over for a few weeks in his crib.
On Friday he decided to unveil his new trick and on Saturday it was full steam ahead.
I think his parents were more excited than he was!

AIRPLANE

It was a beautiful night so we enjoyed dinner out on the deck.
Afterwards Roy and Hudson played AIRPLANE.
I wonder when Hudson will get his first ride on a real airplane?

A Child Of God

On Friday night we had Hudson's Dedication at our house.  We promised before our family and a few close friends to...
- place Hudson in God's care, grace, and way of life for him
- live with Hudson among God's faithful people
- bring Hudson to hear the word of God and place in his hands the Holy Scriptures
- nuture Hudson in faith and prayer so that he may grow to place his trust in Jesus Christ, proclaim Him through word and deed, care for others and the world God made, and work for His justice and peace

Here are some pictures from the event!

Hudson all dressed up in his handsome outfit for his dedication.

Hudson + Addison = Buddies
Not sure who is cuter?

Hudson and Uncle Ryan chillin' together, waiting for everyone to arrive.

Brian led us in a few worship songs to begin our time.

Pastor Jeremy from Hope came to lead the dedication.

Hudson was filled with joy!

Hudson loved being the center of attention!

The Swinger clan!

The Bomgaars family!

A few members from our small group were able to make it.

Afterwards we enjoyed refreshments together.
It was a beautiful night.

Hudson loved having Aunt Angela around.

Brian and Addison thought the brownies were yummy!

Adam, Grammy, and Aunt Angela.

Great Grandpa Ells and Papa Ed.

We are so thankful we found a time that everyone could make it, especially these 2!  :)

Hudson got to stay up waaay past his bedtime.  Can you tell?
Thanks Ben & Jenna for making the trip here for the dedication.

Roy and I each wrote and shared a prayer for Hudson, which you can read below.
Prayers For Our Son, Hudson John
Hudson John, I love you forever!  You have grown my heart so much and in so many ways that I didn’t know was possible.  I am so proud of you and love being your Mommy.  You have taught me so many things, increased my patience, and revealed to me the joys of being a parent.  Thank you for being the best son ever!
Today is a special day because we dedicate you to God and ask for His blessings in your life.  I pray that you would know you are loved unconditionally by God and that some day you will give your life to Him to be used to further His kingdom.  He created you in an amazingly perfect way and I pray Your life will bring Him glory and praise.
I knew that you loved me from the very beginning, even that first night we were in the hospital together.  You stopped crying when I held you in my arms and sang to you.  Today you show me you love me by the way you smile and laugh when we are together.  You are such a joy!  I too have loved you from the very beginning, the first moment I knew of you I already loved you.  I pray our love will continue to grow deeper, wider, longer, and stronger each and every day.
I am thankful too for the opportunity to spend my days with you and I thank God for this gift.  I pray that through my words, time, actions, and touches you know that you are loved, cared for, can trust me, and are safe.  We have many adventures yet to take together and I know we will grow more in love with each other through them.
I love you, all of you, my precious son, Hudson John!

Hudson, I thank God for the amazing gift that you are.  It has been such a joy to be your Dad.  I pray for you today that you would realize the sin in your life and your need for God’s love and salvation through Jesus.   I pray that you would walk in God’s truth, have an undivided heart and that you would bring God glory to all nations with your life.  I look forward to walking with you on the journey of life and to see how our relationship grows as well.
I pray too God that you would grow Emily and I as parents with Hudson.  May we be an example to him of faithful people who love you and obey your commands.    Give us wisdom as we parent Hudson.  Help us to speak truth seasoned with your grace.  No matter what Hudson does, may we be an example of your unconditional love to him.  Help me to be a strong father and to lead our family according to your will.
We praise you, God, for this time and bring glory to your name.
Amen.

4th Of July Weekend

On Sunday afternoon we went out to Roy's parents house to spent some time with Ian, Bridget, and their 3 children who were visiting from Missouri.  A highlight of the afternoon was introducing Bethany and Hudson to each other and seeing them "play together."  Bethany is about 4 months older than Hudson, but not too much bigger.  :)  She is a busy girl and showed Hudson what it will take to keep up with her.

Great Grandpa Ells with 2 of his great grandchildren.  Doesn't he look proud?

Roy and Ben worked together to build this ship out of Legos.
I'm not sure who enjoyed it more...Roy or Ben?

Is he putting his arm around her?  Who taught him that?

Last night we had some friends over for a BBQ.  Here are some pictures from the evening.

Hudson helped Mommy get ready for the party in the afternoon.

3 babies, all of which it was their 1st 4th of July.

Hudson is not so sure what he thinks of all these girls!  :)
He says..."Where are the boys?"
